About Vox
Veritas Oratio Xaris is an independent, non-profit Christian discipleship community. Our goal is to train Christian students to address life issues in a manner that glorifies God, using competitive speech and debate as the laboratory where they learn to communicate graciously from a firm biblical worldview.
A Discipleship Community First
Vox is a Christian community first and a forensics club second. We are rooted in the Protestant Reformation tradition: the supreme authority and inerrancy of Scripture, salvation by grace alone through faith alone, and the priesthood of all believers.
Because we are a local covenant community, prospective families are interviewed to ensure wholehearted alignment with our Statement of Faith. Families seeking skills training without theological instruction are encouraged to explore secular leagues such as the NSDA.
Program Scope: Ages 12–18
Our instructional programs are reserved for junior high and high school students ages 12 to 18. Siblings ages 8–11 are welcome in Junior Club.
Please note: the content of our categories is aimed at students 15 and older. Students research and discuss difficult real-world issues (e.g., criminal justice, warfare, bioethics) that require emotional and intellectual maturity.
Our Cooperative Model (Not a Drop-Off Program)
We are fully volunteer-based. We are not a fee-for-service provider, a coaching clinic, or a daycare facility.
- Mandatory parent roles. At least one parent from every family stays on-site at every meeting to fill an operational role (judging, administration, or facilities).
- No childcare. All volunteer resources go to the 12–18 age group. Families are responsible for their non-enrolled children, and parents cannot leave their co-op duties to manage childcare.
We serve families from Monroe to North Bend, and from Normandy Park to Maple Valley.
Club Day
Every Monday evening at Calvary Chapel Eastside: worldview formation, shared table fellowship, and competitive practice.
Monday Schedule
- 4:45 PMSetup crew opens the doors and organizes the rooms
- 5:00–6:30Speech Club, alternating weekly with Apologetics. Junior Club meets the 2nd & 4th Mondays.
- 6:30–7:00Dinner (bring your own); parent meeting as needed
- 7:00–9:00Team Policy Debate and LD Values Debate (weekly)
- 9:00–9:15Teardown crew resets the rooms and closes the doors
Mandatory Core Christian Foundations (Apologetics & Catechism)
The All-Club Intersection. Training students to speak well is meaningless if they do not first know what is true. On alternating weeks the entire club gathers for active catechism and worldview formation: studying core Protestant doctrine, discussing in small groups, and praying together.
Participation is mandatory for all enrolled members, whether on the Speech, Debate, or Comprehensive track. We do not allow "skills-only" participation. This study also prepares students to compete in the NCFCA Apologetics category.
Email the Apologetics Director →Lincoln-Douglas Values Debate
Named after the famous debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas, LD is a one-on-one debate focused on a clash of values. Students argue for the value that should guide a judge to prefer one side of the resolution.
Team Policy Debate
A two-on-two legislative policy debate. Students research solutions to current problems and argue for or against a federal policy proposal based on stock issues and net benefits.
Speech
- Limited Preparation: students draw a topic and have limited time to prepare and deliver a speech.
- Platform: students prepare and present an original, scripted speech.
- Interpretation: students draw from literature to develop and present an original performance.
Junior Club
A fun, safe introduction to speech for the younger siblings (ages 8–11) of enrolled students, so the whole family can take part in club life. Meets at Calvary Chapel Eastside on the 2nd and 4th Mondays, 5:00–6:30 PM. Junior Club is not open for general enrollment and is not a daycare program. Parents supervise their own children and serve in a club role.

We are not just looking for students; we are looking for partner families. The interview lets us talk through our co-op requirements and make sure our mission aligns with your family's educational goals.
Character First
For a decade, Vox has helped produce nationally ranked speakers and debaters. We are proud of our champions, but prouder of the character and resilience our students develop along the way.
